Prioritizing Your Well-Being

The Art of Self-Care

When we launched Patchology in 2014, our mission was to create customizable, science-backed skincare that delivered results. Today, we work to deliver effect products that celebrate self-care.

Self-care is very personal and is not only about longer term goals. It can simply be practicing care of yourself, or advocating for yourself in the moment.

Our report explores self-care, its increasing importance and the way people in the US, UK and Australia seek to express their efforts in self-care.

THE FUTURE

The Art of Self-Care

The wellness economy has grown to an estimated global market value of USD $4.4 trillion. It is predicted to grow at an annual rate of 9.9%, reaching nearly USD $7.0 trillion in 2025.

The self-care sector is a vital and growing part of the wellness economy. During the last three years, we have seen the narrative of self-care include more conversations about mental health, sleep, diversity and inclusion, sustainability and body positivity.

Over the next decade, we will see people take a more comprehensive role in their self-care as they are enabled by self-care tech, social media influencers and direct-to-consumer relationships with self-care brands. Most importantly, they will likely be informed by the growing collection of evidence that supports the practice of self-care. There is no shortage of evidence to support the importance of sleep quality, the impact of exercise (particularly strength and flexibility) on mental and physical health, the critical role that nutrition and gut health play in preventing disease and the devastating impact that stress can have on our lives.
